Hot Dog Roast

“Later on in the afternoon Uncle Rodger would build a fire in an old tractor wheel that he kept for just that purpose. We would gather round the bonfire and burn up hot dogs and marshmallows. The ladies would uncover all the potluck dishes and the feasting would begin.
“Bob, try these sweet potatoes of Aunt Krista’s; this fried chicken is so moist and the outside is still crispy, Molly.”
“You know, nobody could ever fry chicken like Great Grandma Carter could. She had that old cast iron chuck wagon skillet that they brought up from Oklahoma! She always fried the chicken in pure lard.”
